the Military Authorities here in Ictober last, forwarding applications for compensation from certain householders for property destroyed stolen by Soldiers of the 99th Pegiment on the night of the 13th September lack, together with copy of the reply received from Major General Brown, slating
that the subject must be referred to The Secretary of State for War.
I should have forwarded there
by the mail
papers to you as I promised to of the 1st Instant, but delayed doing as as I found on speaking upon
the subject to Major General Buy, who now Commands Her Majesty's Forces in this District, that he considered the
claims in queation ought to be setter by the Regiment, and be promised to
his influence with the Ermmanding
